A Tarot Spread For a Mid-Year Review

A Tarot Spread For a Mid-Year Review

We all love to set big goals at the beginning of the year, but as it goes on they get left behind in the past. How often do you check in mid-year to make sure you’re on the right track to meet those goals? How many times have you forgotten that you even had goals?

The next time you find yourself wondering ‘what Tarot spread should I do?’ think about when the last time you checked in with yourself was.

This mid-year review is the perfect Tarot spread to help you do just that. Review the energies that have got you to this point and what you can expect to cultivate as you move forwards.

Whether you do this 6 months into the year or 10 months into the year. There is no wrong time to sit down and make space for a bit of self-reflection.

Want to really get stuck into this work and connect with your most authentic self, all while building a consistent Tarot practice? Make sure to check out the Tarot For Reconnection Workshop.

Card 1 – What you entered the year with

This position shows you what energy you sprang into the new year with. It’s a good time to reflect on this and assess why you had that energy to begin with, whether it’s still present and if not, when and why did it disappear.

This is so you can see how you’ve changed from the person you used to be compared to the person you are at this present moment.

Card 2 – What has been driving you

What is your motivation for getting to you are right now? This card will show you what your main driving energy is, and what’s fuelling you as you work towards the end of this year.

It’s a good shout to see if this is even an energy you want to harness and be a vessel for. It might be that this energy is not at all what you were trying to achieve. If so, then now is a great time to see how you’ve got to this point and how you could change things.

If it is an energy you’ve been trying to harness, then review what steps you took to get here and make a note of anything you observed along the way.

Card 3 – How have you approached this year so far

This is the energy you’ve been using to attack the year so far. Card 2 shows you the energy that has built up naturally over time, but this is conscious energy. You’re actively using this energy to move forward.

Again, is this energy what you were trying to use or has it evolved into something more? Do you think this is the right energy to be wielding? Do you think it is helping you or is it hindering/slowing down your progress?

Card 4 – A lesson that you’ve learned

This card represents a key lesson that you’ve learned so far this year. Take a look and try and identify what this might be referring to and what difference it has made.

Maybe this lesson has completely changed the goals you have for yourself. Maybe this lesson has made you rethink some aspects of your life or of yourself. Dive into this lesson so you can see how it has impacted you.

Card 5 – A lesson that you’re about to learn

This card shows a lesson that is currently open to you. It’s one that is on the horizon should you keep moving in the direction you are currently. This lesson may be something that really challenges you or could even derail you.

How do you feel that this lesson is on its way to you? Do you feel a need to change direction in order to avoid it? If so why? If you’re ready to face this lesson head-on, why?

Card 6 – Your goal for the rest of the year

This is the energy you are able to harness should you embrace everything the rest of the year has in store for you. This is a great card to sit with and really absorb the energy it is offering.

How does it feel? Is it a welcome energy? Does it make you feel excited or scared? Make sure to dive into any thoughts or feelings that appear and pick them apart as much as possible. Try and get to the root of why this energy is so important for you right now.

Using tarot to pinpoint your soulful selling points

Using tarot to pinpoint your soulful selling points.png

There are lots of ways you can use your trusty tarot deck to make better business decisions, or even figure out the finer details of your business as you start off on your entrepreneurial journey. Today, we’re going to be looking at how we can use our tarot cards to get really niche with our business’ soulful selling point!

Your unique selling point is the pinnacle of your business and it might take a while for you to really wrap your head around it. I’m in my second year of business and I’m still tweaking my USP and pivoting my marketing to match my new discoveries. When it comes to being a creative entrepreneur, our USP becomes our SSP, our soulful selling point. Being a creative entrepreneur means that our desires and drivers behind our business are almost always rooted in emotion and intuition and this needs to be reflected in our USP. This means our unique selling point becomes our soulful selling point, our offering to the world that speaks directly to the soul, not just the bank account.

What’s the difference between a USP and a soulful selling point?

When we talk about USPs, we’re looking at the thing that our business revolves around that sets us apart from competitors. We’re picking out a particular value or unique offering that only our business can provide. This is a very corporate way of looking at things and a lot of the time pushing your USP can give you the ick. It can feel too salesy or sterile, whereas focusing on your soulful selling point brings you down to a more humanised level.

As a creative entrepreneur, you’re not speaking to people from a place of need, nobody really needs a creative, artisan or decorative product. You should be talking to your audience from a place of emotion, speaking to the heart and connecting with them on the same level that art itself connects with us as humans. Nobody buying any form of art looks at it and thinks ‘I need this because it will help me do X, Y, Z’, they look at it and want to buy it because it connects with them on a deeper level. It makes them turn inwards and they want it in their life because of the way it makes them feel.

>
A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art.

— Paul Cezanne

Figuring out your soulful selling point

What we want to do now, is think about what emotion, feeling or belief we offer our audience. What is the unique connection only we can form with our audience? Remember, we’re coming directly from the heart and soul, we’re not thinking about what will necessarily make people buy from us, we’re trying to work out what will make people connect with us and our business.

To help you do just that, I’ve put together a five-card tarot spread that helps you delve a little deeper into your own connection with your business, and allows you to unpack that and find connections with your audience.

Soulful Selling Point Spread.png

Let’s run through the spread together to find out how it all works:

Card 1) The Significator

Pick this card consciously. By that, I mean to go through your tarot deck and find a card that you feel represents your business offering the best. For example, if you’re someone that makes something with their hands that needs a lot of skill, then you may choose the Eight of Pentacles for this card. Or if you are a life coach, you may choose the Queen of Swords or The Empress to represent your services.

Card 2) The Why

From here, we’re going to be shuffling and choosing cards the normal way. Your second card will sit at the top of your main spread and it will represent your ‘why’, the reason that you yourself do the job you do. This might be common knowledge to you, you may know exactly why you started your business and why you want to offer the services you offer. If you don’t and this card has blindsided you a bit, don’t worry, you can unpack it in the final three cards.

Card 3) The personal connection

Card number three will back up card number two, in that it will give you a bit more information around the emotional connection you have with your business. It helps you delve deeper into your ‘why’ and unpack things a little more so you can get really niche. Your personal connection is very important because it’s the fire that motivates you and keeps you moving forward. If we lose that, it can be hard for us to know what action to take within our business.

Card 4) The customer’s connection

Card number four is all about what your customer’s connection is with your business. This should show you what your customers think and feel about what you offer. It’s important with this card to really analyse whether this matches up with the behaviour of your audience currently. If it doesn’t, you may need to make adjustments to your branding, marketing or services, to realign them with the connection you’re trying to create with your customers.

Card 5) Your soulful selling point

The final card is the outcome card of the spread, this card shows you what your soulful selling point is or should be. Link it with the other cards in the spread, try and see where it aligns and where it doesn’t. The areas where it doesn’t align is where you need to spend your time and energy, to help you get everything into place. All three of these bottom cards should flow and connect with each other, you should be able to see how your personal connection and that of your audience, connect to result in your soulful selling point.

Really spend some time on this, it may not be obvious at first and there may be a need to really dig into things and question what comes up. There’s a lot of subconscious work in this spread, so I’d highly recommend journalling while you give yourself this reading.

How to Use Oracle Cards With Tarot

how_to_use_oracle_cards_with_tarot.jpg

We’ve already had a look at how oracle and tarot cards are different, but now we’re about to jump into the world of combining the two! Yes, that’s right, you can use oracle cards AND tarot cards at the same time for a detailed and intuitive reading.

There are a few different ways to do this, but to start you off, I wanted to introduce you to my personal favourites and beginner-friendly ways of using oracle cards with tarot.

*Before you get started, make sure you know how to cleanse your Tarot and oracle cards correctly!

Adding an extra level of understanding

One of the main reasons to add an oracle card to your tarot reading is to offer an extra level of detail and understanding. Oracle cards are messages from the universe on what we need to know. Each card is filled with a unique narrative that can really help you to figure out the tarot a lot easier.

Some people will mix in a few oracle cards with their tarot cards, however, I prefer to use just one oracle card in my readings, to give it more influence and meaning. The more oracle cards in a spread, the more diluted the messages are… in my experience anyway!

The perfect way to start using your oracle cards with your tarot cards is by following along with one of my workshops or workbooks

Universal guidance for your reading

We talked a lot about how oracle cards work in my previous blog post (see below), so I won’t go into too much detail about that here, but I will reiterate that oracle cards hold a lot more detail and story than that of tarot cards. I find that tarot cards work best when they are paired with each other to create a narrative. Oracle cards can do that all by themselves, hence why you often get fewer oracle cards in a deck than you do tarot cards.

When it comes to readings, adding in an oracle card can provide a more rounded universal message than the tarot. If you’re finding it hard to put all the tarot cards together, adding an oracle card can help give you context and bind everything together.

You can of course do this just using the tarot by picking out a shadow or light card, but using oracle cards is a lot more fun and beginner friendly.

Oracle cards with tarot spreads

I’ve created two little spreads for you to get you on the road to using oracle cards with tarot. Both use just one oracle card as a signifier card, helping to provide more detail and narrative to your readings.

Oracle Wisdom

oracle_tarot_spread_together.png

The Oracle Wisdom spread uses five tarot cards and one oracle card. In this spread, the oracle card is here as the message that binds all the tarot cards together. For example:

Oracle deck: Work Your Light Oracle Deck. Buy the deck here >>> Shop Now

Oracle deck: Work Your Light Oracle Deck. Buy the deck here >>> Shop Now

In the above reading, we’ve got the following cards in the following positions:

  • Past – Eight of Cups

  • Present – Ten of Cups

  • Bridge – Six of Pentacles

  • Future – Page of Swords

  • Block – Four of Swords

  • Oracle – Birthing a New Age: Birthing new creations. Dreaming a new world into being.

If we got these cards in a general reading I would say that we’ve come from a place where we’ve had to make a big decision to walk away from something that we were emotionally invested in. It might have been a project that just didn’t work or maybe even a relationship.

In the present, we now feel more emotionally fulfilled because of this decision, walking away from what was no longer serving us, has helped us to reach a place where we feel happier, more supported and more optimistic for the future. We’ve managed to get to this point by asking those around us for help and accepting what we received.

In the future, we are aiming for a lot more mental clarity around what it is that we need in our lives to make us happy. We may be in a good place right now, but it’s only temporary and we need to start planning for the future and how we can maintain this positivity. The way we can get to that point is by taking some time out, revelling in this 10 of Cups energy for a while and allowing ideas and thoughts to come to us naturally.

The Oracle Card helps by telling us that this process is going to be a big turning point in your life. It’s going to put you on a completely new path than what you were expecting and that decision you made to walk away from where you were, was one that was always meant to happen. Taking this 4 of Swords time to just allow yourself to figure things out in your own time, will help you to really delve into your subconscious and uncover deeply rooted dreams and goals that you’ve been suppressing.

The addition of the Oracle Card gives us that extra level of comfort and universal support, showing us that the path we are taking is one that was meant to be and written in our destiny. It helps to uncover even more detail from the cards as you move along.

Divine Guidance

divine_guidance_tarot_oracle_spread.png

The Divine Guidance spread uses the oracle card in a slightly different way, giving you a present narrative to which all the other cards revolve around. Let’s have a look at it in action:

Oracle deck: Work Your Light Oracle Deck. Buy the deck here >>> Shop Now

Oracle deck: Work Your Light Oracle Deck. Buy the deck here >>> Shop Now

In this example, we have the following cards in a general reading:

  • Mindset – Nine of Pentacles

  • Subconscious – Ace of Swords

  • Past – Three of Cups

  • Future – Queen of Cups

  • Oracle – Get Grounded: Empaths, Highly Sensitives. Connect with Nature.

This spread gives us more information about what’s going on internally. It’s less about your circumstance and more about your emotional and spiritual wellbeing. In the middle of the spread we have the Oracle Card, which tells us to get back to nature and find a way to ground yourself right now. You are feeling overwhelmed by both your own emotions and those around you. In order to improve your state of wellbeing, you need to figure out a way to feel more in control and gain a more grounded mindset about where you are right now.

The conscious card of the 9 of Pentacles tells us that we are thinking a lot about our material world right now, how much money we have, or how much money we lack. This can also be about wanting material possessions that you can’t justify buying or you simply can’t afford. You think that having these things will make you happier, and so the lack of them is making you miserable.

In your subconscious, there is a deep need to be able to see things for how they are. You want to be able to get rid of this constant material thinking and start using your brain power for more intellectual things like planning your future and thinking about the important things in life.

This is all coming from a place of comparison, the 3 of Cups has us thinking about how happy others are with what they have and how we want to be like them. We are watching as these people celebrate all they have, this can be caused by comparing our own lives on social media. This comparison is causing us to live in this daydream where we have all we desire and when we get hit with a dose of reality, we come crashing down.

The future promises that we will be able to grab a hold of these wayward emotions, but that the grounding energy from the oracle card is what we need in order to get to that point. We need to stop the comparison and practice gratitude for what we have, in order to see things in a clearer light.

The oracle card in this spread allows us to link each of the tarot cards back to one singular point. For the above reading its about grounding. We can link each card to this subject of grounding and how it will support or unblock the tarot card’s energy.

Using oracle cards in your tarot spreads doesn’t have to be confusing, keep the amount of cards you use to a minimum and you’ll find it a lot easier to get to grips with this form of divination!

The Road to Success Tarot Spread

tarot_spread_for_success.jpg

Success is never a straightforward road, everybody achieves it differently and there is no one size fits all solution. For those striving for success, whatever that may look like for you, a one size fits all solution would be the dream, but instead we are left flailing around trying to figure everything out and feeling like we are the only ones not getting it.

Why can’t we all achieve success the same way?

There really is only one of you and you are completely unique. Your likes, dislikes, your personal experiences, what you went through during childhood, trauma, life changing experiences, travel, you name it, are all your own.

These are the things that mould and shape your brain, how you think and how you see the world around you. With that in mind, no two people will think the exact same way. One person may start a project the same as someone else, but because of their experiences and personality, they will mentally approach something completely differently, and therefore have different results.

We have to think of our own success in the same way. If you aren’t seeing the same results as someone who is doing the exact same thing as you, the problem may not be what you’re doing, but the mindset with which you are approaching it.

Obstacles will be created, whether internally or externally, that get in the way of our success and it’s up to us to work out how to overcome them, or if you have a more defeatist mindset, to choose to lay down and let them stop you completely. Remember, there is always a way around any obstacle, even if it means walking 100 miles away just to get around it, as they say, ‘where there’s a will, there’s a way’.

How can we find our own path to success?

Finding your own path to success doesn’t have to include constant, frustrating amounts of trial and error, using a tarot reading is a great way to consistently check you’re heading in the right direction and identify anything you may come up against in the future.

I recommend that my clients get a full Celtic Cross reading every other month, with smaller readings in between, just to check in and make sure they are doing what they should be and maintaining the right mindset.

The way tarot helps with this, is it identifies the internal blockages that are the most common reasons for people not achieving success. If you’re not reaching your goals because you have self-limiting beliefs that are stopping you from taking important risks, tarot will tell you. If your focus isn’t in the right areas or if your heart is not in a particular project, the tarot will tell you.

Tarot also offers answers and suggestions on how to overcome these blockages, either before they arise or whilst you are battling with them. It can help show you why you are facing those obstacles and what you need to do in order to unblock that energy and find the energy to propel you forward.

Tarot spread to find success

Below, I’ve created a tarot spread especially designed to help you identify what is currently stopping you from reaching success, what you need to do in order to solve that issue and what outcome you can expect once you’ve done the work.

The spread is designed in a triangle in order to show you how each flow of energy had resulted in the obstacle. Start from the bottom and work your way up, left to right.

Card 1: This is your subconscious beliefs, the things you believe deep down about yourself, that may be causing you issues or stopping you from taking the risks you need to take, indicated by the parallel card, Card 2.

Card 2: Is what risk you need to take right now. There’s always a risk we need to take when it comes to achieving success and this card is it. Use card 1 to find out more about this risk, use it to understand why it’s so hard for you to take it.

Card 3: The conscious mindset card represents your conscious thoughts and feelings about your current situation, it is influenced by those subconscious beliefs in Card 1 and mirrored in the risk you need to take in Card 2.

Card 4: Your environment refers to where you are physically right now and what is going on in your life. Physical, real-world obstacles are always going to pop up, so this card tells you what those currently are. You can also link this card with the risk card, using the risk card to tell you what could be at risk should you choose to take a leap.

Card 5: This is the obstacle, what is the big thing that you need to overcome right now? How are your subconscious beliefs creating or supporting that obstacle (Card 1)? How will taking that risk (Card 2) help you overcome that? How is your conscious mindset dealing with that obstacle and what changes could you make (Card 3)? How is your environment supporting or working against that obstacle (Card 4)?

Feel free to try this at home with your own tarot decks or you could also use oracle cards.

If you haven’t got your own tarot cards, or you want a more professional reading, I am here to do online career or business readings either over Zoom or over email. Together, we can get you on the right path and on your way to success!
