Nine of Pentacles Tarot Meanings

Nine of Pentacles Tarot Meanings

MINOR ARCANA

Nine of Pentacles Tarot Meanings

The Nine of Pentacles is the mature wisdom of the Pentacles, it is the stage where we feel like we’ve achieved what we set out to achieve and we’re now able to just sit in this space and enjoy all the things that come with it. There’s a lot to be learned throughout the course of the Pentacles suit and once we reach the Nine we are able to see how much we’ve grown and how the student has become the teacher.

We feel safe and secure in what we’ve managed to build for ourselves and we’re not afraid to show it. We’re humble, but not self-deprecating, we are independent but are wise enough to seek support when we need it most.

Ten of Pentacles Tarot Meanings
Nine of Pentacles Tarot Meanings Abundance

Nine of Pentacles Upright Meanings

In the upright position, the Nine of Pentacles shows an energy that is firm, confident, and can recognise its privilege. Some of the key meanings of the Nine of Pentacles are:

  • Self-reliance

  • Resourcefulness

  • Self-discipline

  • Independence

  • Abundance

Sometimes when the Nine of Pentacles comes up I visualise a sturdy tree, although its branches and leaves mover and bend to its surroundings, it still has that solid trunk keeping it grounded. That’s how I imagine the energy of the Nine of Pentacles to be, safe and secure, but not inflexible to the ups and downs of life.

Nine of Pentacles Reversed Meanings

In the reversed position, the Nine of Pentacles takes on a slightly more arrogant air to it than its upright counterparts, it’s not quite as humble or as independent as it likes to think it is. Some of the main reversed meanings of the Nine of Pentacles are:

  • Dependency

  • Deceit

  • Superficial

  • Overworking

  • Status chasing

With the Nine of Pentacles in reverse, the energy turns into something a lot more shallow, it’s progress for the sake of progress and striving to look like it has everything, but under the surface, the foundations are crumbling away.

Reading Nine of Pentacles in a Tarot Spread

When the Nine of Pentacles appears in your spread, think about the theme of independence and what that means to you or ask the person you are reading for what they deem as being independent. This simple question sparked by the Nine of Pentacles can tell you a lot about the person being read for.

For example, if someone sees independence as self-reliance, doing everything for themselves and always having to be the one taking the lead, there may be a lack of trust that is underlying these things that needs addressing. How we perceive things like abundance and success tells us a lot about our beliefs about life and often when the Nine of Pentacles shows up, it can be a gateway to exploring those topics and concepts we have deep in our internal world.

Nine of Pentacles as An Invitation

Like we talked about above, the Nine of Pentacles is a great invitation to explore your material and external world and what it means to you. As well as exploring your ideas around the perfect life and living a life of material success and abundance.

For Nine of Pentacles, this invitation could be the following:

  • An invitation to assess whether your self-reliance is one of strength or one grounded in a lack of trust

  • An invitation to practise more self-discipline in order to reach your goals

  • An invitation to be mindful of how much work you’re putting in and whether you need to take a short break to recharge

  • An invitation to address the reasons for your desires and goals, what are the motivators behind them?

Nine of Pentacles as Sage Advice

As advice, the Nine of Pentacles can give us guidance around really seeing the bigger picture. With this card, we are encouraged to really review how we see our own world and make connections between the external and internal.

Some advice Nine of Pentacles may offer is:

  • Explore your independence more, now that you have the skills and knowledge to support yourself along your journey. Think about what you could achieve and what experiences you could have

  • Always take time to enjoy the abundance you have created or manifested for yourself. If you can’t, then constantly striving for more will never bring joy

  • Move forward with pure motivations and always make sure you have strong foundations on which to explore and grow

Nine of Pentacles as a Lesson

If the Nine of Pentacles shows up to offer you a few lessons, it may be that there are some things you still need to learn about what it means to be resourceful and secure but not inflexible.

Some lessons that Nine of Pentacles may offer you are:

  • A lesson in standing firm but also being able to find compromise when needed

  • A lesson in gratitude and being able to recognise and enjoy your own abundance

  • A lesson in dependency and identifying the right time and place for it

  • A lesson in superficial motivations and how to identify them

Nine of Pentacles as a Redirection

When the Nine of Pentacles appears as a redirection, you may need to take a little break instead of pushing on to the next big thing.

As a redirection, Nine of Pentacles could symbolise a need to:

  • Allow yourself time to simply stop and smell the roses. Your next goal will still be there once you’re done, there is no rush

  • Recognise when rest can be an asset to progress

  • Be more resourceful instead of trying the same things over and over again and expecting different results

  • Be more open and vulnerable so you can ask for help, instead of trying to push forward alone and stressed

Pentacles Meanings

Pentacles

The Pentacles turn our attention to areas of our life such as our material world, money, career, home, physical well-being and relationships.

The Pentacles bring you into the present and ask you to look at the bones of a situation. It is an energy that wants us to be very honest, realistic and see things as they are and not as we or others want them to be. This is why we often see the Pentacles as being very hard work or a slow burn.

Pentacles Meanings Earth

Earth

All four of the Tarot suits correspond with one of the four elements – air, fire, water and earth. The Pentacles are the suit of earth, this means that all of the Pentacles cards adopt the core properties of the element of earth.

These properties then form the foundations of the Pentacles cards, giving them a very grounded, stable and inflexible energy. We can use those feelings of earth to help us fully understand what a Pentacles card is about and what it’s trying to tell us.

The Hermit Tarot Meanings Nine

Nines

The number nine in numerology represents abundance in both its positive and negative forms. It is the final hurdle before we cross the finish line within the tens.

The Nine of Pentacles is a card that often tells us about abundance within the material world. This could be an abundance of money, good or bad health, family time or even reaching the top of your current career ladder. It’s important to remember that the nines are not the end, so there’s usually one last little thing stopping you from crossing that finish line.

MINOR ARCANA

Eight of Pentacles Tarot Meanings

With the Eight of Pentacles, we have or are working to create a sense of long-term stability. All the routines and work we are putting in are to sustain us and provide longevity. The Eight of Pentacles shows a level of mastery within the realm of earth and the material world, that will support us as we move forward along our journey. Some examples of this at work may be mastering a skill that helps you to level up in your job, or maybe you have been working on your fitness and now you are able to do certain tasks more easily than when you started.

This card is a bit like the payment, the outcome of really sticking with something, weathering the storms that were thrown your way, and overcoming the obstacles that popped up to derail you. You’ve shown that you are committed to achieving what you originally set out to achieve and you’re starting to notice the shifts that it has caused.

Eight of Pentacles Tarot Meanings Skills
Eight of Pentacles Tarot Meanings
Eight of Pentacles Tarot Meanings Mastery

Eight of Pentacles Upright Meanings

In the upright position, the Eight of Pentacles shows great diligence and hard work and how that has paid off for you. Some of the key meanings of the Eight of Pentacles are:

  • Planning

  • Implementing

  • Diligence

  • Determination

  • Mastery

Sometimes I like to think of this card as a sort of apprentice of the King of Pentacles, to me, they have a similar organised and knowledgeable energy about them. The Eight isn’t quite the King yet, but he has the potential to be as he’s really shown his commitment to achieving the highest quality possible.

Eight of Pentacles Reversed Meanings

In the reversed position, the Eight of Pentacles can often represent what happens when we don’t find the right balance and end up overworking or trying to be a jack of all trades and master of none. Some of the main reversed meanings of the Eight of Pentacles are:

  • Lack of concentration

  • Poor quality

  • Mediocrity

  • Workaholic

Working crazy hard for long periods of time may appear to get you where you want to go quicker than taking your time, but the quality of what you achieve will always be lower. Even the masters of their craft would never rush through something, disregarding the quality of the end result. If you are willing to do something poorly for the sake of getting it done, then is it even worth doing?

Reading Eight of Pentacles in a Tarot Spread

The Eight of Pentacles offers a different kind of patience than the other pentacle cards we’ve come across. With this card, we need to commit to doing something well instead of just doing it for the sake of doing it. Although this may sound like it’s catered more towards career and work readings, we can apply this to the other areas of the pentacles suit, including home life, family and friend relationships, our health.

For example, say we were doing a love reading and we pulled the Eight of Pentacles, we would look at our relationship, the relationships we’ve had in the past, or the type of relationship we’re trying to manifest and we would see where we need to slow down and focus our energy. This could be putting more time into your relationship by cutting down on work overtime or finding ways to spend more time together.

Eight of Pentacles as An Invitation

If the Eight of Pentacles shows up as an invitation then it may be time to take a look at what skills you’ve mastered over the last year and how those skills are supporting your growth and forward journey.

For Eight of Pentacles, this invitation could be the following:

  • An invitation to implement any plans you’ve had brewing and really put all that planning time to good use

  • An invitation to review the quality of your work and value quality over quantity

  • An invitation to maintain your current diligence in order to reach your full potential

  • An invitation to review your journey so far and notice the difference between the person you used to be and the person you are now

Eight of Pentacles as Sage Advice

More than anything the Eight of Pentacles gives advice around diligence and hard work. A lot of us give up before we get to the point where we really get into the swing of things, usually because things are taking too long. However, embodying this type of focus and patience is something that can really support you long term.

Some advice Eight of Pentacles may offer is:

  • Keep going, you are very close to reaching your goal but you have to keep your head down and maintain your momentum

  • Work harder not smarter, just because you’re always busy doesn’t mean you are any more advanced than someone that manages their time and work-life balance effectively

  • Commit to reaching the finish line, no matter how hard the road has been so far

Eight of Pentacles as a Lesson

Similarly to the advice that the Eight of Pentacles offers, the lessons we can learn from it can help us to form a really good and strong foundation for all other matters in life moving forward.

Some lessons that Eight of Pentacles may offer you are:

  • A lesson in diligence and what it means to commit for the long haul

  • A lesson in perfect planning and how much difference it can make to success

  • A lesson in getting the highest quality out of life

  • A lesson in what it takes to gather experience and real-world wisdom

Eight of Pentacles as a Redirection

When the Eight of Pentacles shows up as a redirection it may be that you have been pushing too hard for too long and now face burnout or disinterest.

As a redirection, Eight of Pentacles could symbolise a need to:

  • Take a step back to rest and really see how far you’ve come, instead of trying to push forward and threaten making a silly mistake

  • Re-adjust your focus and make sure you are concentrating on the right areas of your life

  • Leave the planning stage and start getting your hands dirty

  • Acknowledge the skills and strengths you already have and think about how they could support you as you move forward

Pentacles Meanings

Pentacles

The Pentacles help us reflect on our material world. They can remind us to pay attention to things like our health, money, family, home life and even to just find new ways to ground in the present moment.

The Pentacles, often known as the coins in certain Tarot decks, are a Tarot suit that helps us to see the reality of a situation. They deal with the facts and what is, cutting through delusion or idealism. They are practical and to the point.

Pentacles Meanings Earth

Earth

The Pentacles are the element of earth. Each suit corresponds with one of the four elements and we apply earth to the Pentacles because of their grounded and solid foundations.

Like earth, the possibilities with what Pentacles can be used for and how they can be viewed are endless. One person may see an empty field and be able to visualise crops that could feed a village. Someone else may see a new housing estate. The Pentacles cards are open to the same level of interpretation.

Eights Tarot Meanings Numerology

Eights

The number eight within numerology represents long-term stability. It is a number that asks us to build foundations that not only support us in the moment, but are sustainable and will continue to support us time and time again.

In terms of the Eight of Pentacles, we see a focus on building skills and processes that are going to continue to serve us time and time again. Things like good habits or even more practical things like work skills and professions.

MINOR ARCANA

Seven of Pentacles Tarot Meanings

The Seven of Pentacles is a place of pause, a chance for us to gather our senses, review what has come before, review all the work we’ve put in previously and make level-headed decisions about how to proceed. We’re finally starting to see results from what we’ve put in already, but now we have to decide whether we maintain or start something new.

The sevens in the tarot tend to refer to having to overcome doubt in the realm of the suit it sits in, so for the Seven of Pentacles, we may be doubting our efforts based on the results we’re seeing.

Often this doubt stems from impatience rather than cold hard facts, we become impatient with things that take time to develop and so we give up before they have the chance to really reach their full potential.

The Seven of Pentacles appears to remind us that good things come to those who wait and we need to trust the process.

Seven of Pentacles Upright Meanings

In the upright position, the Seven of Pentacles is all about assessment, evaluating what we have achieved already and deciding what our next step should be. Some of the key meanings of the Seven of Pentacles are:

  • Preparation

  • Assessment

  • Evaluation

  • Reflection

  • New paths

We can never really understand and embrace how far we’ve come without an assessment of what we’ve been through. When working towards our goals we tend to power ahead with our heads bowed and always looking forwards. Although this is great for getting us to where we want to be, we can miss out on all the lessons and teachings that were on offer to us along the way. We need to be able to look at everything that came before to gain a realistic perspective on the present.

Seven of Pentacles Reversed Meanings

In the reversed position, the Seven of Pentacles can indicate impatience and the frustration that comes with things not progressing at the speed we want it to. Some of the main reversed meanings of the Seven of Pentacles are:

  • Limited success

  • Delay

  • Impatience

  • Poor management

Our impatience can often be the one thing that clouds our perspective on a situation. We want the dream life after a year of hard work, but life works in levels, we can’t go from level one to level 10 in 12-months. With this in mind, we need that assessment period in order to see what level we’re at and what we need to do to reach that next stage in our progress, rather than the final stage we’re aiming for overall.

Reading Seven of Pentacles in a Tarot Spread

When the Seven of Pentacles appears in a spread the best place to start is with the theme of patience, what is the card encouraging you to be more patient with? The next thing would be assessment and evaluation, there may be something within the material world that needs to be looked at in more detail and really broken down in order to gain a more realistic perspective.

The Seven of Pentacles is all about really addressing the frustration and self-doubt we may have about material or external matters. This could be work, health, home life or even finances. It may be that you’ve been working overtime but not seeing this reflected in your pay check or performance review, in which case the Seven of Pentacles may pop up to tell you to trust that your hard work will pay off, or that you need to look at the work you’ve done during that time and see whether you could work smarter instead of harder in order to reach your desired outcome.

Seven of Pentacles as An Invitation

The Seven of Pentacles as an invitation looks at inviting us to assess our material world and how it is working. We’re asked to see if there’s anyways we could work differently to make things more efficient or to streamline processes.

For Seven of Pentacles, this invitation could be the following:

  • An invitation assess all the work you’ve done to get to this point and find a way to be proud of yourself for your hard work

  • An invitation to reflect on the past and see how you’ve grown and developed during that time

  • An invitation to embrace patience and allow things to develop in their own time

  • An invitation to see if you could manage your time and schedule more efficiently

Seven of Pentacles as Sage Advice

If the Seven of Pentacles comes up to offer you some wise words of advice, they may revolve around your perspective and mindset that you’ve developed around your material world.

Some advice Seven of Pentacles may offer is:

  • Don’t let delays derail you completely, a derailment just means things may take a little longer than scheduled, it doesn’t mean that they will never happen

  • If we never stop to admire the results of our hard work, we’ll always be chasing the next achievement in a detached and distant manner

  • If you’ve not seen the outcome you were hoping for, it may be time to look at the road you took to get here and try to identify areas that you could have done things differently

Seven of Pentacles as a Lesson

The Seven of Pentacles contains a lot of lessons about time and the reality of time. Especially these days, we want instant gratification but that’s not how the real world works, the offline world works slower.

Some lessons that Seven of Pentacles may offer you are:

  • A lesson in patience and allowing things to unfold organically

  • A lesson in how to assess yourself and hold yourself accountable

  • A lesson in managing your own expectations

  • A lesson in making decisions based on evaluations you’ve made

Seven of Pentacles as a Redirection

If the Seven of Pentacles appears as a redirection, it may be that you’ve reached a fork in the road and the path you thought you would take doesn’t look like the right way forward anymore.

As a redirection, Seven of Pentacles could symbolise a need to:

  • Assess the pros and cons of what came before and look at different avenues for moving forward that you may not have thought about before

  • Switch your focus to something else for a while and let your hard work unfold for itself, instead of micro-managing it

  • Prepare for the next level of your journey instead of constantly turning over old ground

Pentacles Meanings

Pentacles

The Pentacles are the suit of our material world. This means when they appear in our readings we know to look at areas such as our physical health and well-being, our money and career, our relationships and home life.

Often the Pentacles are associated with money, this is because Pentacles is also known as coins and resembles coins on most Tarot cards. However, they can refer to anything that exists in your external and physical world. They help us bring our attention into the present and cut through any bias or delusion to see the reality of a situation.

Pentacles Meanings Earth

Earth

The Pentacles Tarot suit is the suit of earth, this means the Pentacles inherit the same properties we would associate with the element of earth. These are things like fertility, growth and nurture.

The element of earth is supportive, stable and provides for us. This can be in the form of shelter or sustenance amongst many other things. When reading the Pentacles we can draw from these earthy elements to help us better understand the type of energy the cards are giving off.

Seven Tarot Meanings Numerology

Sevens

Within numerology, the number seven is often seen as a sacred or spiritual number. In the Tarot we interpret that as a focus on our spiritual selves, looking at things like our beliefs, morals, ethics and more.

Within the Seven of Pentacles, we are looking at our patience and often beliefs around the value we place on ourselves and our efforts. Often the Seven of Pentacles refers to hard work and a lack of pay off or a delay in pay off. How we react to a situation like that can tell us a lot about our belief systems and how we view ourselves.

Six Of Pentacles Tarot Meanings

MINOR ARCANA

Six of Pentacles Tarot Meanings

When it comes to the Six of Pentacles, it can help to keep its previous card, the Five of Pentacles in mind. We’ve passed through this period of worry and deep concern, to reach a place of generosity, charity and equilibrium. We’ve risen out of those gloomy depths and now we finally have a lifeline to help us pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and continue on our way.

The Six of Pentacles is an achievement in the realm of earth, so it often refers to material world achievements and wins. Usually, these have been a long time coming or at least it feels that way. We can finally relax a little and the stress starts to melt away as our optimistic perspective takes the place of our previously pessimistic one.

Six of Pentacles Tarot Meanings Charity

Six of Pentacles Upright Meanings

In the upright position, the Six of Pentacles aims to restore balance, our inner and outer worlds are finally back in alignment and we have more control over what is happening to us. Some of the key meanings of the Six of Pentacles are:

  • Charity

  • Perspective

  • Equilibrium

  • Generosity

  • Reciprocation

With the Six of Pentacles, we finally have the support we needed in the Five of Pentacles, whether that is from an external source or we’ve found it in ourselves, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that we have now balanced how we see our situation and the situation at hand, helping to take the pressure off and relieve the stress.

Six of Pentacles Reversed Meanings

In the reversed position, the Six of Pentacles can often see us carrying those negativities from the Five of Pentacles into the next stage on our journey. Some of the main reversed meanings of the Six of Pentacles are:

  • Abuse

  • Subservience

  • Inequality

  • Bad investment

  • Small print

It may seem like the Six of Pentacles reversed brings more doom and gloom, but it’s simply a word of caution rather than an omen. It asks us to stay on our toes and make sure we are giving our present circumstances our full attention in order to avoid trip hazards.

Reading Six of Pentacles in a Tarot Spread

The Six of Pentacles is always a card I find a little tricky to interpret because it carries a little bit of that heaviness from the Five of Pentacles, but it is striving to lighten things up and break through the gloom. It’s more of a lifeline than a complete solution or saviour. It shows us that we have the opportunity to break free and really start to turn our look around, but you may need to look at the other cards around it to really unfold what the meat of it is.

When it appears in a spread, see it as cautious optimism, we’ve come through the other side of the darkness, but we’re not out of the woods yet. There are still things to do and we need to maintain our focus.

Six of Pentacles as An Invitation

If the Six of Pentacles shows up as an invitation, it can be asking us to really sit in this balanced energy, to take a deep breath and regroup.

For Six of Pentacles, this invitation could be the following:

  • An invitation to accept charity when it is offered, there is no shame in accepting help when you need it most

  • An invitation to read all the small print before making any big commitments

  • An invitation to share your good fortune with others in order to attract more to yourself

  • An invitation to give as good as you get, whether that’s positive or negative energy

Six of Pentacles as Sage Advice

The Six of Pentacles can appear as advice when we have just come out of a heavy period of our journey. It can often be a helping hand that leads us back on the right path.

Some advice Six of Pentacles may offer is:

  • We don’t have to suffer alone, if you have the opportunity for external help or support, take it without hesitation

  • Use this time to look back at how far you’ve come, what you’ve done to clamber your way to where you are right now and be proud of all the hard work you’ve accomplished

  • Find confidence in your current position, you deserve to be where you are and it’s important to not let anyone make you feel otherwise

Six of Pentacles as a Lesson

If there are lessons to be learned from the Six of Pentacles they will most likely be lessons around give and take, creating equilibrium and fighting for what you know you deserve.

Some lessons that Six of Pentacles may offer you are:

  • A lesson in true inequality and recognising your privilege

  • A lesson in aligning your external world with your internal one to achieve positive results

  • A lesson in the joy and fulfilment in generosity and giving back

  • A lesson in accepting help in spite of your ego telling you not to

Six of Pentacles as a Redirection

When the Six of Pentacles comes up as a redirection it may be that you need to practice more gratitude for what you have in the present, instead of trying to constantly achieve the next thing on your list.

As a redirection, Six of Pentacles could symbolise a need to:

  • Find a new avenue of support, whether that be getting a loan, asking for help or support from those closest to you or even signing up for a new club or hobby to help with your wellbeing

  • Change your perspective and start to see your privilege instead of playing the victim

  • Be more careful when making big commitments instead of going in blindly

Pentacles Meanings

Pentacles

The Pentacles are the minor arcana Tarot suit that looks at our finances, health, home, relationships and career. It is a focus on our material world, all the things we can see, hear, touch, smell and taste.

The Pentacles are very active and physical. They require us to move, to instigate and take responsibility. They differ from the Wands which are also an active energy, because the Pentacles are rooted in practicality whereas the Wands are purely impulse.

Pentacles Meanings Earth

Earth

All four of the minor arcana Tarot suits have an elemental energy. The Pentacles is the energy of earth. This is because the Pentacles represent grounded energy. It is all about the real external world, the things we can interact with and our physical bodies.

The Pentacles are a very present energy, another reason why we associate them with the grounded energy of earth. When they come up in our readings we are asked to look at things how they are and not how we want them to be in an ideal world.

Sixes Tarot Meanings Numerology

Sixes

The sixes in the world of numerology are primarily about success, achievement and victory. When we apply this to the world of the Pentacles, we see these things within the material and external world.

An example of a Six of Pentacles moment may be receiving good karma after giving back to your community. It can also be something as simple as a job promotion, an engagement, reaching a PB in the gym or even landing that dream home.

MINOR ARCANA

Five of Pentacles Tarot Meanings

With the Pentacles symbolising our external world and material spaces, the Five of Pentacles shows chaos within those areas. This chaos isn’t always factual though, often it’s our perspective that makes things seem 100% worse than it actually is. Your feelings and thoughts are valid of course, however, there may be better ways of expressing them and reacting to your situation.

The Five of Pentacles often represent our daily life worries, like paying bills, organising family get together, making time for all the chores and so on. Often when these things mount up they can feel completely catastrophic and that’s when we are most likely to see the Five of Pentacles.

Five of Pentacles Tarot Meanings Setback

Five of Pentacles Upright Meanings

In the upright position, the Five of Pentacles is all about our worries and concerns in regards to our daily lives and the events that happen to us. Some of the key meanings of the Five of Pentacles are:

  • Worries

  • Concerns

  • Wellbeing

  • Imbalance

  • Resistance

There is a feeling of needing to be kind to yourself with the Five of Pentacles, we can often be the ones throwing ourselves out into the cold, just like we see in the image on the Rider Waite-Smith deck. We need to be able to support ourselves and show ourselves the same dedication we do to others in order to be able to weather whatever life throws at us.

Five of Pentacles Reversed Meanings

In the reversed position, the Five of Pentacles flips that bad luck and worry on its head to give us a bit more positivity and optimism. Some of the main reversed meanings of the Five of Pentacles are:

  • Good Luck

  • Positive change

  • Recovery

  • Employment

  • Overcoming

The Five of Pentacles reversed can often be a sign that the worst has passed and that we are now able to start the healing process. As the pentacles can refer to health and physical wellbeing, the Five reversed can be a hopeful sign that you are finally starting to put your wellbeing before everything else.

Reading Five of Pentacles in a Tarot Spread

When the Five of Pentacles shows up in a spread, although it can look a little ominous, it’s important to remember that its energy is there to support and guide you, not to indicate that something is happening to you. The future is never written and the tarot only suggests things that could be, not what will be.

With that in mind, the Five of Pentacles is often a sign that you need to take a look at how you are reacting to your current situation, you need to adjust the mindsets and perspectives you have around any problems or challenges you are currently facing, in order to inject a little more optimism and hope.

Five of Pentacles as An Invitation

When the Five of Pentacles shows up as an invitation, it is usually an invitation to assess and review your reactions to certain things. You need to look at how you’re viewing your life and make adjustments to invite more positivity.

For Five of Pentacles, this invitation could be the following:

  • An invitation to start breaking down your biggest worries to try and find what the root cause of them are and start to treat them from the source

  • An invitation to put your wellbeing first in order to better your overall health

  • An invitation to readjust your money mindsets and start to create an abundance mindset instead of a lack mindset

  • An invitation to notice areas of resistance and explore why it’s there

Five of Pentacles as Sage Advice

If the Five of Pentacles pops up to offer some advice, it’s most likely going to be around matters of home, health, family and finances and the common concerns that often accompany them.

Some advice Five of Pentacles may offer is:

  • We can ease the stress and pressure from intense situations by shifting our focus and trying to find more optimism in dark situations

  • Don’t be your own enemy, listen to your gut, treat yourself with kindness and don’t be harder on yourself than you would be on others

  • Don’t allow worries to completely consume your life

  • Trust that all bad things must pass and there will be a lift in your situation soon after

Five of Pentacles as a Lesson

When the Five of Pentacles appears as a lesson we can often be taught how to effectively handle the ups and downs that come with living a normal life.

Some lessons that Five of Pentacles may offer you are:

  • A lesson in finding spaces in order to rest and recuperate

  • A lesson in knowing how to navigate worries and concerns so they don’t consume you

  • A lesson in overcoming internal resistance

  • A lesson in attracting positive change

Five of Pentacles as a Redirection

If the Five of Pentacles appears to try and redirect you on your path, it’s most likely because you are the curator of your own suffering. The Buddhist concept of wanting and desire often applies to this card, the idea being that the more we want things to be bigger and better, the least likely we are to be happy with what we have already (that’s a very basic breakdown, I highly recommend researching it more!).

As a redirection, Five of Pentacles could symbolise a need to:

  • Find a way to be grateful for what you have already, in order to start attracting more of it

  • Actively act with more positivity and optimism

  • Take a break in order to look after your well-being for a while

  • Fight for what you believe you deserve instead of accepting the lot you have been handed

Pentacles Meanings

Pentacles

The Pentacles are the suit of our material world and possessions. This isn’t just limited to financial matters, it also includes our home, health, relationships with family and even our hobbies.

With the Pentacles we are asked to focus on the more material or physical aspects of the situation. For example in a reading about love, the presence of Pentacles would ask you to look at things from a very practical point of view. Maybe it asks you to think about whether you have the time to give to someone else, or if a relationship will add value to your life.

Pentacles Meanings Earth

Earth

All the Tarot suits correspond to one of the four elemental energies and the Pentacles corresponds with the element of earth. This can help us read the Pentacles cards when they appear in our readings. We simply think about the type of feeling, energy and unconscious understanding we have about what earth is and apply it to the card.

For the Five of Pentacles, we would look at how we can ground into a feeling of hardship in order to find a way through it. We can draw from the earth energy to better understand how this card’s energy is affecting us and find solutions from there.

The Hierophant Tarot Meanings Five

Fives

Within numerology the number five can be both the number of chaos and the number of humanity. It represents the constant ebb and flow of being human and having to deal with both the good and bad in equal measure.

In the Five of Pentacles, we are dealing with chaos in the form of hardship, struggle or a need to seek out support. It is a card that likes to remind us that we are not an island and sometimes we have to be brave enough to put the ego and pride to one side and reach out to those who can help us back on our feet.
