The Pages in the Tarot are the novices of their suits. They have no real world experience to draw from and so must go off what they can see, hear, feel and what they are told by those in a more senior position.
The Pages ask us to go back to the very foundations of a thing. To remove all the bells and whistles and only look at the bare bones in order to determine an answer or solution.
