The Six of Swords Tarot Meaning

The Six of Swords is a transitional card, taking us from the conflict and challenges faced in the Five through to the spiritual lessons and philosophical conflicts of the Seven of Swords. The Six is therefore what helps us open up our horizons. It represents the thoughts and ideas that will carry us through, give us clarity around direction and purpose and allow us to see what possibilities come next.

With the Six of Swords, we’re dealing with slow but purposeful progress. It takes on a much slower energy than other sword cards; it asks for calm and allowing things to simply unfold and to move toward them at a slow and intentional pace.

In a lot of the suits, we see the Sixes as a point of celebration or success, but with the swords, it’s much more about acceptance than progress. With the Six of Swords, we’re asked to be mindful and present, to take in the journey without a thought as to what the exact destination will be.
