How to use tarot cards to plan business growth & manage your day-to-day

tarot-cards-for-business.jpg

I’m sure you’ve noticed, but I LOVE tarot cards. Not just for my personal life, but I use them everyday to help me find focus and direction with my business.

When you work alone, it can be tricky to have 100% confidence in the decisions you make. You can find yourself second guessing new ideas or new directions you want to take. The tarot cards (for me anyway) are a tool to help me find confidence within myself, ensure I’m prioritising the right things and being mindful of the process of owning my own business.

Now, I want to help other solopreneurs to find the same comfort and support from tarot cards that I do. So, here are five ways you can use tarot cards to plan business growth and manage your day-to-day business tasks.

Finding focus for your day

One of the main ways I use tarot cards for my business, is through daily three card readings. I like to use the cards to find a singular focus for my day, help me realise what I need to pay attention to and be mindful of the obstacles that could pop up throughout the day.

This really helps me to tackle tasks head on and allows me to create a more positive mindset, with which to tackle my mountain of work. This simple three card spread is ideal for keeping you mindful all day and allowing you to spot issues before they can arise.

Setting business intentions

Using tarot cards, I can also set an overall intention for my business. I can ask the cards to help me better understand my target audience and ask them how I can ensure I keep my wellbeing a priority, as I set out on this journey.

When you’re so involved in your own business, it can be easy to lose track of the big picture. Using tarot as a business tool means that I can always check in and make sure I’m focusing my energy in the most effective areas.

Using the Celtic Cross spread for yearly reviews

I did this at the beginning of 2020, to get a better idea of what I can hope to achieve during the year and what things may get in the way of me achieving my goals.

The beauty of the Celtic Cross spread is that it provides a huge amount of detail. It encourages you to see how all aspects of your being, your conscious mind, subconscious, thoughts and emotions, all work together. When it comes to business, it’s not just about the hustle or good luck, it’s also about balance, wellbeing and knowing when to put yourself before the work.

The Celtic Cross spread really helped me to see what was realistically possible in my business, given where I am in my life, my mindset and my outlook on the future.

Balancing work and life

Working for yourself is amazing, but it can also be exhausting and time consuming. Too many solopreneurs forget to spend some time on their wellbeing and actually living a life outside of their business. Using tarot readings, either once or twice a month, forces you to sit down and really spend some time looking inwards and listening to what your body and mind needs.

Inner work is so important when you are working solo, because you only have yourself to rely on, which means you need to make sure you are in peak condition. Work/life balance becomes extremely important and so using tools like the tarot, crystals or oracle decks allows you to carve out important you time.

Prioritising tasks

The tarot cards can also be used to prioritise your tasks for the day, no matter if it is business or personal tasks.

By asking the cards to help you find a focus or intention for the day, you’ll be able to understand what tasks are the most important for the day ahead.

For example, if I was to ask my cards what I needed to focus on that day, and they said that I had to remember to take time out, I would make sure I didn’t create a task list that takes up my whole day.

Another example would be if you asked your cards what things need to take priority today and they told you that communication is the most important thing to focus on. I’ll then put emails or social management on the top of my task list.

I use tarot cards for my own business and I’ve seen how much it can help me get my chaotic thoughts and feelings in order. By adding these tools into my routine, I’ve been able to ensure I can always re-find my balance whenever I get off track and my business has reaped the benefits.

The Best Crystals for Overcoming Self Doubt

crystals_for_self_doubt.jpg

We should never underestimate just how much self doubt can effect us. Not just how we see and talk about ourselves, but what we feel capable of doing, our environment and our situation. It can warp the world around you and stop you from achieving the things you are perfectly equipped to achieve.

There are plenty of ways to handle self doubt, including becoming comfortable with challenging these thoughts and opening up a good line of communication with your higher self. Self doubt can often come from beliefs that we hold deep in our subconscious. Doing regular tarot readings or oracle card readings can be a great start, when it comes to creating a dialogue between the conscious and unconscious mind.

Other tools that can help support you on your mission to battle self doubt are crystals and crystal healing. Whether it is using them during meditation, to give you that extra energy boost, or in more complex rituals and spells. Crystals are a wonderfully supportive tool to have.

To help you decide which crystals are best for you and your own personal doubts, I’ve pulled together some of the best crystals for overcoming self doubt below!

Hematite

hematite_meaning.png

Chakra: Root

Hematite is a beautiful, black crystal with a silver sheen that makes it great for rituals such as scrying. Like other black coloured stones, Hematite is a wonderful grounding stone for when your thoughts and feelings are running away with you.

Hematite will help to bring a more level headed approach, allow you to balance logic with emotion and offer protection against thoughts that threaten to derail you.

When we battle thoughts of self doubt, we can often overthink or exaggerate our situation, or the reactions of others. Things like thinking other people will laugh at us for not being ‘professional’ enough or that we don’t have a clue what we’re doing even though we are perfectly qualified.

Hematite will help you to stop judging yourself so harshly and help you see the reality of where you are at, rather than the world you have created inside your head.

Emerald

Chakra: Heart

Emerald is a great stone to pair with Hematite, as it taps into your emotional energy rather than logical energy. Emerald encourages you to be kinder to yourself, more accepting and compassionate. We are always so hard on ourselves and self doubt can become a form of internal bullying if we let it get out of control.

Emerald will help to conjure feelings of ‘I can do this!’ and allow you to see just how much you’ve overcome and achieved. Pairing it with a more grounding stone like Hematite will help you create a better balance between the head and the heart and ensure you can use both effectively. It’s time to be PROUD of yourself!

Amazonite

Chakra: Heart & Throat

Amazonite is the perfect stone for opening those lines of communication we were talking about earlier. Don’t forget that we don’t always know everything about ourselves. As humans, we are an enigma and our subconscious is one of the best secret keepers around.

Amazonite helps you to not only better understand yourself, but it also ensures that you stay cool, calm and collected when self doubt hits hard. Self doubt can often cause feelings of panic and panic incites exaggerated or untrue thoughts. Amazonite makes sure you never lose sight of what’s real and helps to keep the peace internally.

Lapis Lazuli

Chakra: Throat

Closely associated with the throat chakra, Lapis Lazuli is a great stone to own if you are an entrepreneur. This stone allows you to really tap into your inner power, giving you the strength and confidence to banish self doubt when it rears its ugly head.

With strong truth and wisdom energy, Lapis Lazuli is the perfect tool for speaking and living your truth. It asks you to turn inwards and really think about what feels right to you. Trust your gut and invest time and energy into your creative visions.

How to use these crystals to overcome self doubt

Now you know which crystals can support you when battling to overcome self doubt, you may be wondering what you can do with them.

The best and easiest way is to tap into their energy through meditation. Chakra meditation is especially effective in this, as the crystals placed on their specific chakras can help to unblock and increase the flow of energy in specific areas.

For example, if you need to speak out more and communicate more efficiently in order to overcome your self doubt, then placing Lapis Lazuli on your throat chakra will help to unblock or reenergise that energy centre.

To do your chakra meditation, make sure you are clued up on the different energy points and what they have control over. Once you know where to place the crystals, it’s time to do your meditation. Lying down is the best option here, as it can be tricky to balance the crystals where they need to be!

You can also grab one of our chakra incense stick set to help you focus on a specific energy centre. We have incense for all of the chakras and you can check out each one right here:

Using Tarot Card Journalling For Better Mental Health

tarot_reading_journal.jpg

Whether you are a brand new tarot reader or a seasoned professional, starting a tarot journal is one of the best and most effective ways of upping your tarot game. Tarot reading combined with journalling can not only help you keep momentum on daily journal entries, but it can also become an essential self-help tool to keep on top of mental and emotional wellbeing.

You don’t have to get fancy with tarot journalling, a simple ruled line or blank notebook will do, along with your favourite pen. You don’t have to illustrate it, just give yourself daily tarot readings and note down the outcome of each reading.

This technique can not only help you to better understand the cards, but it can also help you to uncover elements of your day, thoughts and feelings that you may not have fully processed. Here’s a few tips on how you can get started with your very own tarot journal.

Tools and equipment

Like I said earlier, you don’t need a tarot specific journal to start a tarot diary. Pick whatever notebook you love most and use that!

Each day, you want to do a tarot reading, the best time being in the morning or if you want to do it in the evening, you’ll be preparing for the following day. The key info you want to make note of is:

  • What each position in the spread refers to

  • What the cards are

  • The date of your reading

  • Meanings of each card

  • How they relate to each other and to what is happening in your life right now

Doing a reading in the morning will help you to set intentions for the day, and give you an idea of what you might want to focus on or avoid throughout that day. Any evening readings should be focused on the following day, it is a good way to prepare for what’s to come and give you a plan for the next day.

Daily readings

To keep things quick and simple (we’re all very busy people!) stick to three card readings. My favourite daily spread looks a bit like this:

  1. Card 1 will tell you what the general theme of the day is

  2. Card 2 will tell you what you specifically need to focus on that day

  3. Card 3 will tell you what to avoid or be wary of

If you follow me over on Instagram, you may have seen my daily card readings on my Insta stories. My most recent reading went a little something like this.

  1. Card 1 – The Five of Pentacles – Indicating that today I will find myself encompassed in my own company and to revel in this time to myself.

  2. Card 2 – The Six of Cups – Showing that today should be all about fun, enjoying my time alone and doing the things that bring me joy and even light the fires of nostalgia.

  3. Card 3 – The Devil (Reversed) – Telling me to be wary of my workaholic tendencies and to not be tempted to abandon this precious ‘me’ time in order to get ahead with work.

Tarot readings are not about trying to predict your future, they are about better understanding the here and now

I find that the information the cards give me is better absorbed if I write it all down, rather than trying to connect the dots in my head. Writing it all down also helps me to delve even further into the meanings of the cards. As I write what each card means to me, I find that more realisations pop into my brain as I go along.

Looking back and reading the full reading in black and white helps me to create goals and tasks for the day. I can write down my intention, solidifying it and creating an unspoken contract between me and the universe.

Using tarot to understand the subconscious

My number one priority for tarot readings, whether it is for myself or for a client, is to uncover and understand the subconscious. Our unconscious mind holds so many secrets and solutions, but it can be difficult to uncover them with everyday conscious thought.

Whenever I do a reading, I like to go into as much detail as possible to uncover the true meanings of the cards. I want to walk away from a reading feeling like I understand myself better and feeling more in-tune with myself. Tarot readings are not about trying to predict your future, they are about better understanding the here and now, so we can live a more in touch and self-compassionate life.

5 Alternative Self-Care Tips

What does ‘self-care’ mean to you? What activities come to mind? I think the fact that we are paying self-care a little more attention than we used to is great, but it’s important that we understand what self-care truly means.

Many self-care tips that I’ve seen floating around are great, but a bit shallow. Sure a bath and a face mask will make me feel relaxed and chill for a few hours, but what does it do for my wellbeing long term. It’s the long game we need to be focusing on when it comes to taking care of our wellbeing, as that is how we see amazing and life changing results.

5-alternative-self-care-tips.png

Consistency is key

Creating a routine with your self-care is the key to making it effective and actually worth your time and energy. The more consistent we can be, the better.

This is one of the benefits of being Wiccan and paying close attention to the lunar cycle, it’s like a built in schedule for self-care.

For example, every full-moon I will do a ritual or some spell work, every new moon I’ll do intention setting, during the waning moon I’ll focus on releasing rituals and meditation. There’s always a moon phase to help me schedule in some one on one time, so it becomes a little easier to keep up with.

What are the long term effects of good self-care?

We’re going to be on this planet for many many years (hopefully!) so why wouldn’t we want to take steps to make it the most fun time possible? This does take a bit of dedication and discipline though. I know, I hate discipline as well.

It has been proven that consistent self-care, particularly therapy and meditation, can help to actually change brain function, but it takes time and persistence. Rome wasn’t built in a day and improving the health of your mind can’t be done in such a short time frame either.

This is true self-care. Understanding that it will take time and be dedicated to it anyway. It should never be a quick fix to a temporary problem, it should be something that you take seriously and actually plan out in order to help you for the rest of your life.

5 Amazing Self-Help Podcasts You Need In Your Life

self-help-podcasts.jpg

It took me a while to get on board with the podcast game, I’ve never much enjoyed listening to voices just chatting away. My attention span is very short, so I always found that my mind would drift to thinking about everything else in the world.

It’s only in the past 2-3 years that I’ve really found some amazing podcasts, that really help me to open my mind and really think about life in a different way. If you’ve never given self-help podcasts a go before, I reckon these are a great place to start!

Happy Place by Fearne Cotton

One of my firm favourites at the moment. Fearne Cotton is a popular UK presenter and radio DJ who has, in the past few years, turned her attention firmly on mental health and self-care. She’s written a few amazing books and her podcast launched in 2018. Since then she’s had amazing guests on, some of my favourites being Elizabeth Gilbert, Rebecca Dennis and Stephen Fry.

Every episode, Fearne sits down with a guest and chats about all things self-care and finding balance in life. It’s so interesting to hear how, no matter what a persons job is, we all have the same issues. Even the celebrities go through the same doubts and negative life events that everybody goes through.

Put Yourself First by Kat Horrocks

I’ll admit, I’m a little bit biased with this one because Kat is a friend, but I do genuinely love her podcast. Kat sits down to chat with amazing badass women who are killing it in their professional lives and talks with them about how they find balance and what they have been through to get to where they are now.

It’s a really easy listen and it feels like you’re just sitting down for a conversation with friends. There’s not pretentious nonsense, just a great chat that you will definitely take something away from.

The Hierophant Sessions by Melinda Lee Holm

I don’t even know how I found Melinda’s podcast but I’m very glad I did! It combines two of my favourite things, tarot reading and self-help. Melinda sits down with an array of guests who have a problem, gives them a reading live on the podcast and talks them through some of the solutions they may be able to take.

You don’t have to be a huge fan of tarot to love this podcast as Melinda offers some really amazing advice that you can easily apply to your own life. Plus, it’s a lot of fun to hear how people slowly unravel their own problems and come to amazing realisations as the show goes on.

Under the Skin by Russell Brand

Of course our man Russell is in this list, nobody makes you think more (or feel like you’re not thinking enough) than Russell Brand. There are so many amazing people that pop up on Under the Skin, some of my favourite episodes are his interview with Brene Brown, Karamo Brown (my absolute fave!) and Fearne Cotton.

In true Russell Brand style, he talks about amazing spiritual stuff, life and really makes you expand your mind and what you believe.

How to Fail by Elizabeth Day

This one is a pretty new one for me, but I’ve been loving the simple and clear conversations. There’s no chaos, it’s super easy to listen to and talks about all failures we face in life and how we can handle them. She has a great mix of guests on the show, from Love Island contestants, to highly esteemed self-help gurus.

Not sure how to listen to podcasts?

If you have yourself an iPhone, the Apple podcast should already be installed on your phone. Podcasts are completely free, so even if you have another device such as an Android or Google phone, you should be able to find a podcast app in your app store.

You can also find podcasts hosted on Spotify!
